Environment
1. Safeguarding Biodiversity, Securing the Future
At Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust, we believe that protecting biodiversity means protecting the future of our communities. In Tengmo village, Changlang district, we organized a Baseline Survey on Biodiversity Risk during FY 2020–21 to understand local challenges and promote conservation practices.
Through hands-on workshops, our team learned to collect biodiversity data, document endangered species, and collaborate with local communities dependent on forests. By blending scientific methods with traditional knowledge, we aim to safeguard Arunachal Pradesh’s rich natural heritage and empower communities for future stewardship.
2. Protecting Nature, Empowering Communities
Arunachal Pradesh, blessed with extraordinary biodiversity and deep cultural heritage, is where forests and communities are inseparable. For generations, tribal communities have used traditional knowledge to maintain balance, ensuring forests provide food, water, and livelihoods.
Biodiversity now faces threats from poverty, overuse, and the spread of commercial plantations. Native species are at risk, creating urgent need for action. Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust collaborates with forest officials to foster sustainable livelihoods and conservation—combining wisdom and modern approaches for a thriving future.
3. Training for a Sustainable Tomorrow
Biodiversity is the planet's natural wealth—vital to human needs, survival, and the wellbeing of future generations. Namdapha National Park in Arunachal Pradesh, a global biodiversity hotspot, hosts 233 butterfly species, nearly 500 bird species, and 26 tigers. During FY 2018–19, BLCCT held an employee training program focused on biodiversity, building staff knowledge and capacity for conservation. Such initiatives strengthen awareness and practical action for a greener tomorrow.

4. Promoting Biodiversity through Floriculture and Beekeeping

BLCCT in partnership with KVK Namsai, ArSRLM, and SANJOG, promotes biodiversity-friendly farming in Alubari, Chongkham, Namsai. Through NABARD-supported Integrated Floriculture and Beekeeping Project, farmers cultivate Marigold, Gladiolus, and Gerbera, and practice beekeeping for eco-friendly pollination and enriching biodiversity. 100% Gladiolus germination and other early successes highlight positive environmental impact.
5. Sustainable Silk Value Chain: Eri and Muga for Green Livelihoods
BLCCT, with SANJOG and Resham Sutra, is empowering sustainable livelihoods through the eco-friendly Eri and Muga silk value chain in Mohbol Village, Lakhimpur District. These “ahimsa silks” blend traditional techniques with modern green technology, supporting biodiversity and culture. Awareness programs in December 2024 and March 2025 united over 30 SHG women for cluster development, technical support, and machine introduction—scaling the cluster to 300 women in three months. This initiative links environmental conservation to sustainable textile production.
